The general consensus for planting a foil wrapped grocery store Hydrangea seemed to be, don't bother. Either it will not survive below Zone 7, or it will not bloom. We have two that have survived the elements for the past 3 years here in Zone 5, and it was a bitter bitch this past winter. Not only are they alive, but one of them is actually going to bloom.
