Christmas list 2010. lmao Just kidding.

I wanted to post photos of the flowers and plants that caught my eye in Hawaii. You won't find anything blooming outside our house right now.

Pink Ginger. It was much smaller than the white ginger. I can't remember if I smelled this flower. Hell, it was our first day in Hawaii and I was wound up tighter than a virgin at a prison rodeo. (thanks Blanche Devereaux)

Tropical fern, this is what was on our tables at the Luau. The Feast at Lele.

Anyone have any guesses as to what type of plant this is.

These leaves were enormous on this Split Leaf Philodendron.

Maybe I should have had the sense to snag a seed pod off the ground while I was there. I am sure I could build a 20 foot tall greenhouse to overwinter her. Whatever she is. It reminds me of the Mimosa trees here in the Midwest.

Does anybody else see a Sunday Mimosa Brunch Headdress? Just wondering.

Now this bloom was big enough to fit on your head.

I am going to call this a tropical spider plant until I find out what it actually is. I believe it is a Crinium.

I need to do some research on my flowers of Hawaii. For now I will call this Hawaii's ditch Lily. It is reminiscent of the lilies that grow here.

And they did seem to grow everywhere. This photo was taken in the IAO Valley. The were growing all alongside a stream.

Bougainvillea

Look familiar.

Plumeria, now if I run across this, I will add it to our collection.

I wonder what the Maple trees in the back yard would look like with a haircut. lol I love this tree. So many of the trees there, were pruned in this way. I wonder if there is a reason other than aesthetics?

Is this a Ginger or Bromelaid?

I know that you cannot take plants or seeds or such into Hawaii, I wonder what you are allowed to bring back?

My Bougainvillea has never had one flower, and this one was growing by a dumpster behind a grocery store.

I think this is a bottle brush tree. I made me think of a Weeping Willow with attitude.

I wish this was my driveway.

You know how I love a water feature.

Pay no attention to my finger at the top of the photo. This would look Fierce in my front yard. I had a vision just pop into my head. Stay tuned. lol

Now this might be easy to overwinter. Just sayin.

I am not sure about the name of this plant but some refer to it as a type of Bird of Paradise.

This is the view from my imaginary home in Hawaii just out the french doors to the Master bedroom.

These are also on the edges of my imaginary driveway.

I can't imagine our Hawaiian Ti plant getting so tall. Where in gay hell would we put her. Those were every bit of 12 feet tall.

I can't remember what in the hell this was called. Imagine that.

This Buddha greets you when you enter the Garden of Eden in Maui. This picture was taken from inside the car.

Garden of Eden

The Garden of Eden is a 26 acre Botanical Garden on the Hana Highway in Maui Hawaii. It is on the famous Road to Hana. I imagine this to be the view I have my morning coffee with. I can also imagine a fabulous Mimosa Brunch's with this view.

Hawaii

With the onset of cold weather made me want to post more Hawaii pictures.

Can you imagine walking across that lava bridge in the distance? Scary.

This looks Jurassic to me.

I went into this lava tube to get this picture. I would hate to be in there at high tide. There is a small black sand beach on the other side.

The line you see in the mountain in the distance, is actually the road to Hana. If you ever go to Maui, you must take the road to Hana. It takes about 3 hours one way, but it is well worth your time. The views are breathtaking around every corner, and the drive itself can be a nail biter.

Keanae

We drove around the west side of Maui. You can see the east side of the island in the distance. I guess it is frowned upon to drive around the west side of Maui. Who knew. I am glad we did it before we found that fact out.
